New features of the Rénoclimat program

The Rénoclimat program was greatly enhanced on December 18, 2012. Its new terms and conditions can be found on the Web site and in the program’s Normative framework. These new terms and conditions apply to the participants of the Rénoclimat program and are in force since April 1st, 2012.

Financial assistance amounts have been increased by 60%. Energy evaluation costs have been reduced. The 18-month deadline to carry out renovations no longer applies. Finally, the program’s eligibility criteria are more flexible: it is now possible to participate in the Rénoclimat program more than once for the same home and multiple-unit buildings with 4 to 20 units are now eligible.

About the Rénoclimat program

Rénoclimat is a government program that is available since 2007 to encourage owners to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

Between 2007 and 2010, the program only targeted single-family homes. In April 2010, duplexes and triplexes were added and in April 2012, small buildings with 4 to 20 units joined the program.

In 2010 and 2011, 18,000 households participated in the Rénoclimat program and received, on average, $1,100 in financial assistance per home.

The program helped them improve the energy efficiency of their home and control their energy consumption more effectively. On average, the Rénoclimat program helped participants save 20% on their heating bills once the renovations were completed.

The financial assistance offered under the Rénoclimat program and the recurrent energy savings will help you maximize your return on your energy efficient renovations within a few years.

Rénoclimat is the only energy efficiency program for individuals that features an energy performance measure of their homes that is conducted both before and after the work and is based on the EnerGuide rating system.
